Abstract

Congenital anomalies of the parotid gland include gland aplasia, atresia of ducts, the presence of an ccessory or ectopic gland, and a variety of cysts. Of these, the accessory parotid is relatively common, occurring in 20% of persons. In contrast, anomalies f the major salivary gland duct (Stensen duct), inluding sialectasia and duplication of the parotid land, are relatively rare. Only a handful of reports xist describing ectopic or aberrant ducts. We report a case of an aberrant Stensen duct terminating in the buccal skin, which was identified in the setting of suppurative parotitis and sialoliths.
