Abstract

Acute pancreatitis, intestinal infarction, and duodenal perforation were performed in guinea pigs. Elevated values of serum amylase were found in the animals of the different experimental groups, but without significant differences among them. Renal clearance of amylase, expressed as a percentage of creatinine clearance, was found to be significantly increased in the animals with acute pancreatitis in comparison with normal controls and animals of the other groups.
