Abstract

The amplification of Alfven waves in free (unlimited) shear flows is investigated. It is assumed that the initial magnetic field is uniform and directed along the velocity of unperturbed flow. It is also assumed that the shear present in the flow is constant and is perpendicular to the velocity itself. It is obtained that the amplification of Alfven waves has unusual character — namely it occurs in the limited time interval and is stronger the smaller is the initial magnetic field.
