Abstract

The mean power of a coherent lidar echo signal from a topographic target under different refractive turbulence strength in the atmosphere is studied experimentally. It is shown for the first time in the experiment that with increasing the turbulence strength the mean power of echo signal of a coherent lidar increases due to the effect of backscatter amplification in random media.
