Abstract

1. 1. The specific activities of ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) in the livers of adult Rana pipiens and pre- and postmetamorphic R. catesbeiana were measured. 2. 2. There were no significant differences between specific activities of liver OAT from any of the organisms examined. 3. 3. Cell fractionation studies indicated most of the OAT activity was present in the supernatant fraction of liver homogenates from R. catesbeiana and Bufo woodhousii, while liver homogenates from R. pipiens exhibited most of the OAT activity in the mitochondrial fraction.
