S. Lieutenant Colonel Sherman Miles as member of the American study commission in Vienna in the first months of the Paris Peace Conference 1919. Miles' documents on the nationality problems in the border area between the newly established German Austria and the SHS-Kingdom are evaluated. There is special emphasis on the activities of Miles in Styria, based on the research of the Austrian, American and Slovene sources.
