Abstract

Summary Amino acid chromatograms of serum and urine were obtained from patients with epilepsy and encephalitis before, during, and after convulsions and were compared with those of normal children. Increased aminoaciduria with normal levels of amino acids in the serum was observed in 13 of 16 patients during periods of active convulsions and appears to be related to the severity of the seizures.
