Learn more.Copy URL Abstract Protein synthesis in subcellular fractions from normal and malignant cervix uteri has been investigated in regard to amino acid incorporation, which takes place more actively in microsomal and mitochondrial systems in the malignant tissue than in normal tissue. Incorporating activities of mitochondia and microsomes can be considerably stepped up, using poly U or poly A for the corresponding labelled amino acids and greatly suppressed by mitomycin C, emetine, and “Jawaharene,” a fungal antibiotic.
