Abstract
1. 1. Liver homogenates of athymic, “nude” mice have a significantly higher decarboxylase activity than normal mice on the following substrates: l-tyrosine and l-glutamic acid. 2. 2. This difference is not detectable in kidney and whole brain homogenates, and increases from the age of 10 days to the age of 2 months. 3. 3. Thymus grafts carried out on newborn nude mice abolish the difference, whilst injections of certain steroids fail to affect it.
