Abstract
Enantiopure alanine and phenyl alanine derivatized spiropyran syntheses were accomplished. It was found that chiroptical signal was not observed for the chiral merocyanine dyes for all compounds. Nevertheles, the photoisomerization of diastereomeric compounds revealed that the merocyanine -phenyl alanine derived compound has a faster kinetics to spiropyran than merocyanine-alanine derived compound.
