Abstract

By post-synthesis method, nano-gold catalysts anchored onto the amine functionalized mesoporous silica (nanospheres) were prepared. Symmetrical mesopores and dispersed amine groups in silica nanospheres could guarantee good diffusion capacity and a high dispersion gold nanoparticles (GNPs, 4.4 nm). The catalytic tests showed good catalytic activity and epoxidation selectivity, which was superior than the conventional molecular sieves catalysts. To investigate the origin of the gold nanoparticles, the catalyst were characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformed-infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and other instruments. Some reaction parameters, such as solvent, oxidant concentration, catalyst concentration and reaction time, have been investigated and reaction conditions are optimized.
