Abstract

Considering the extent of American missionary, commercial, governmental, and individual contacts with Africa since 1619, there must be a considerable amount of African-related archival and manuscript material in the United States. Yet little is known about the scope or volume of this potential scholarly resource. The Africana Newsletter hopes to remedy this by the regular publication of brief surveys of American archives and manuscript collections. Contributions of such surveys as are offered below will be welcomed.
