*Sidonie Smith is Martha Guernsey Colby Collegiate Professor of English and Women’s Studies at the University of Michigan. She is also a past president of the Modern Language Association of America (2010). Her recent books include the second, expanded edition of Reading Autobiography: A Guide for Interpreting Life Narratives with Julia Watson (2010) and Human Rights and Narrated Lives: The Ethics of Recognition with Kay Schaffer (2004).
