Abstract

All publicly funded bodies, including early years settings, will need to get ready for a new proactive duty to promote disability equality from this December. Th is duty, part of the amended Disability Discrimination Act 1995, is a move away from reactive responses to acts of discrimination to institutions having to take active steps to promote disability equality. Similar legislation was introduced in 2002 to promote race equality.
