Abstract

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a genetic abnormality of enamel development that shows hereditary transmission and affects the structure, amount and composition of the primary and permanent teeth enamel. Phenotypically this disease can be classified into four main types; hypoplastic, hipocalcified, hipomature and taurodontism observed with hipomature-hypoplastic. The negative effects of amelogenesis imperfecta on aesthetics, function, occlusion, phonation and gingival health of primary and permanent teeth produces a different approach than conventional dental treatment.
