Abstract

Early diagnosis and treatment of acute pyelonephritis (APN) are justified by the risk of recurrent infection and renal scarring in young children (1–3). Ambulatory treatment improves patients' comfort and provides significant cost savings to the health system. This work presents our experience in ambulatory management of APN in children. This retrospective study was carried out over a period of 18 mo, from 1 January 1995 to 30 June 1996.
