A partir d'un corpus de rumeurs et de legendes contemporaines circulant parmi les Afro-Americains, l'A. etudie l'ambivalence des comportements face a certains biens de consommation apparemment disparates (poulets frits des fast-food, vetements de sport, tabac, boissons) auxquels certains consommateurs noirs reconnaissent un ensemble de caracteristiques communes qu'ils considerent comme menacantes
