Summary

Introduction

The number of single mothers has grown phenomenally all across the world in the last three decades, in large part as a result of the growing number of children born outside of marriage. Single mothers are living in very pathetic condition with social, economic, cultural and psychological problems. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 15% of children worldwide live in single-parent households and 85% of single-parent families are headed by single mothers. In 2014 approximately 24% of children in the United States lived in single-mother-headed households.
