Abstract

The municipality of Abomey-Calavi presents a living environment favorable to the multiplication of mosquitoes, in particular Aedes type mosquitoes, the preferred bait of which remains humans. The general objective of this study is to identify the climatic parameters favorable to the multiplication of dengue vectors in risk areas in the municipality of Abomey-Calavi. The methodological approach adopted to achieve this objective is based on documentary research, interviews, observation, field surveys followed by data processing and analysis of the results. Analysis of the results was carried out by the EPIR model. Thus, climatological data for the period from 1988 to 2018; data related to the perceptions of the population are collected and processed. The municipality of Abomey-calavi has experienced a rate for years with a deficit of 53.33%, which is higher than that for years with a surplus of 40%. Within the framework of garbage management, the majority of the populations surveyed devote themselves to throwing garbage out in the open, i.e. 42% against 21% for the bush regarding wastewater management, 68% or the majority devote themselves to disposing of wastewater in the open area against 15% for gutters. These ways of handling garbage and wastewater form the basis of the proliferation of mosquitoes which are very harmful to human health. It is therefore important to sensitize the population on the existence of dengue fever and its means of transmission. Key words: Dengue, mosquito type Aedes , climatic atmosphere, proliferation, Abomey-calavi.
