Abstract

AbstractThe AM–PM conversion introduced by microwave transistors was researched using the approach of the AM–PM conversion as a phase statement of compression and desensitization. As proven in this article, the presented approach permits developing high linear amplifiers optimizing their AM–PM conversion instead of optimizing the intermodulation distortion, as it is usually accomplished. The effect of frequencies and amplitudes of input signals, load resistance, and bias condition on the AM–PM conversion introduced by MESFET and HBT amplifiers are reported. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
