Abstract

The importance of alternative drive systems is growing. By 2030, such systems will have an estimated 14 % share of the global automotive market. Even today, the development of hybrid cars and fuel cells is accelerating due to stricter laws on the reduction of CO2 emissions in Europe, the USA and Japan and a remarkable degree of customer acceptance. According to a current study by Arthur D. Little consultants, the significance of power electronics will rise as the importance of these drive systems increases.
