Abstract

Managed care is growing at 15% per year. By 2000 the number of people in managed care organizations (MCOs) will be over 90%. This trend is having a very positive growth impact on the home health care industry, but it is also causing home care organizations to reengineer their services. MCOs primarily view home health care services as commodities, and without building value-added services, home care companies will see decreases in their prices. In this article the reengineering of home health care services is explored, and options for building managed care services are defined.
