Abstract

Some factors which exert an influence on the alternating photocurrents on n-GaAs electrodes have been investigated in greater detail, including the effect of pH on the alternating photocurrent and its frequency and illumination dependence in the alkaline regime, and the effects of halide ions and As 2O 3. The observed features are discussed in terms of electronic non-equilibrium charge-transfer mechanisms of multi-step semiconductor dissolution and of the hydrogen evolution sequence.
