Abstract
This study investigated two alternate spent hen processing procedures designed to produce feedstuffs. A spent hen meal produced in a modified rendering unit when fed at levels up to 6% in broiler starter diets supported satisfactory performance. A second procedure, using a mechanical de-boner, produced two products: mechanically deboned meat and bones plus feathers. Both ingredients supported satisfactory broiler performance.
