Abstract
O texto tem o propósito de primeiramente discorrer a respeito das alterações ambientais no Pantanal matogrossense que estão a impactar a região e que podem se tornar mais graves num cenário de variabilidade climática. Na sequência, busca acercar-se das percepções de pescadores da Colônia de Pescadores Z-2, de Cáceres, Mato Grosso, quanto às alterações ambientais na região. As formas como os pescadores se apropriam e representam em suas falas as mudanças, expressam entendimentos preocupantes e indicam a importância de medidas que associem o conhecimento científico ao tradicional, na tarefa de conter os fatores que mais impactam o bioma pantaneiro.
