Abstract

Solid radioactive alpha-emitting sources have been prepared ( 241Am, 244Cm, 233U and 238Pu) by electrodeposition of these radionuclides onto nickel-plated stainless. The current density and pH were rigorously controlled to obtained good deposition yields, energy resolution and homogeneity: quantitative studies in the determination of the pH range for the hydrolysis of the actinide ions. These sources can be used as standards for the calibration of alpha spectrometers.
