Abstract

The reaction $^{197}\mathrm{Au}(^{16}\mathrm{O}, \mathrm{HI}\ensuremath{\alpha})$ has been investigated at 310 MeV. The angular correlations of alpha particles measured in coincidence with projectile-like fragments are very strongly forward peaked; the reaction is dominated by large negative values of the three-body $Q$ value. Most of the observed alpha particles are emitted from projectile-like fragments. Within a factor of 2, no anisotropy of emission in the center-of-mass frame of the coincident projectile residue and alpha particle was found.
