Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of almagate suspension in combination with esomeprazole for duodenal ulcer patients positive in Helicobacter pylori. Methods 124 duodenal ulcer patients positive in Helicobacter pylori were randomized into two groups. The control group was given esomeprazole alone after 7-day's anti-H.pylori triple therapy including esomeprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. The treatment group was treated with the same therapy plus almagate suspension.Four weeks after the treatment.both groups returned to recheck the duodenal ulcer healing by gastroscope.14C-urea breath test was (rechek) four weeks after the end of the treatment. The ulcer healing rates, total effective rates, and H.pylori eradication rates were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistical difference in the duodenal ulcer healing rate between these two groups (61.29% vs.66.13%,P > 0.05).There was statistical difference in the duodenal ulcer total effective rate between these two groups (82.26% vs.95.16%,x 2=5.153,P < 0.05).There was no statistical difference in the duodenal ulcer H.pylori eradication rate between these two groups (82.26% vs.79.03%,P > 0.05).Conclusions Almagate suspension in combination with esomeprazole is a more effective therapy method for duodenal ulcer patients positive in Helicobacter pylori than esomeprazole alone. Key words: Duodenal ulcer; Helicobacter pylori; Almagate suspension; Esomeprazole
