Abstract
The aim of this paper is to propose the bridging of the gap between theory and practice of international relations in the teaching of Foreign Policy Analysis with the production of political options papers and the planning for international negotiations by the students. The central argument points out that such practical tasks allow the approximation of the students to the political reality of the foreign policy actors and also the use of theoretical tools for a more precise understanding of these issues, experiencing bargaining situations examined by the subfield’s specialists and being encouraged to develop strategies to respond to key political challenges. Students can learn new ways of thinking about international relations, enhance the ability to evaluate different ideas, apply different analytical perspectives to political issues and refine their ability to persuade.

Summary
O objetivo deste artigo é propor a redução da distância entre a teoria e a prática das relações internacionais no ensino de Análise de Política Externa a partir da produção de relatórios de opções políticas e de planejamentos para a negociação internacional pelos alunos. E o argumento central revela que a realização de tais tarefas práticas permite a aproximação dos alunos à realidade dos atores envolvidos na formulação da política externa. Além de aplicarem o instrumental teórico para um entendimento mais preciso dos temas nessa subárea, os alunos vivenciam situações de barganha desenvolvidas pelas abordagens estudadas e são estimulados a desenvolver estratégias a fim de responder aos principais desafios políticos propostos. Eles podem aprender novas formas de pensamento sobre as relações internacionais, potencializar a habilidade de avaliar idéias divergentes, aplicar diferentes perspectivas analíticas para questões políticas concretas e refinar a capacidade de persuasão.
