Abstract

Copper(I) complexes prepared in situ from Cu(I)(CH 3CN) 4PF 6 and several chiral dinucleating ligands have been studied as catalysts for the allylic oxidation of cyclohexene with tert-butyl perbenzoate. Cyclohexenyl benzoate was obtained in yields ranging from 30–92% and with enantioselectivities up to 37% ee. Surprisingly, the formation of an imide has also been observed in significant yields.
