Abstract

Synopsis Mapping in upper Glen Roy suggests that, contrary to recent opinion, the Turret outwash fan and a few of the alluvial fans are largely subaerial in origin. It is proposed that the outwash fan was formed at a late stage in the retreat of ice from the Late Devensian maximum. The alluvial fans seem to have been laid down chiefly in the interval between deglaciation and the flooding of upper Glen Roy by the lakes associated with the Parallel Roads.
