Abstract
Measurements of the temperature and concentration dependence of the magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity for U 1 − x Th x Pd 2 Al 3 are presented. The magnetic susceptibility data scale with the concentration of U ions are large regions of x and T . The electrical resistivity shows a smooth evolution from the Kondo lattice regime to the single-ion Kondo behavior as Th concentration x is increased. A lack of saturation in resistivity in the samples with x = 0.8 and 0.6, and a logarithmic divergence in χ ( T ) at low temperatures makes the U 1 − x Th x Pd 2 Al 3 system a good candidate for a two-channel Kondo effect.
