Abstract

When laser frequency fluctuations are measured by the heterodyne method, frequency modulation results in an additional deterioration of the stability and such deterioration depends on the modulation frequency, frequency deviation, and averaging time. It is shown that the influence of modulation can be ignored if the averaging time is synchronized with the modulation frequency.
