Abstract
THE EFFECT of atmospheric inhomogeneities on the propagation of the shock wave arising from the flight and explosion of a meteorite is discussed. The solution of this problem is obtained by bivariate non-stationary numerical calculations, which are compared with approximate quasi-univariate methods of taking atmospheric inhomogeneities into account. The results of a determination of the trajectory and energy parameters of the Tungusska meteorite from the known picture of the terrestrial perturbations are presented. The work of other authors is critically discussed.
