Abstract
The mitochondrial isozyme of malic enzyme from bovine heart shows allosteric properties at low concentrations of malate and this characteristic can be modified by succinate, which does not affect the maximum velocity of the reaction. The cytoplasmic isozyme from the same tissue does not show any allosteric properties.
