Abstract

Allium halfetiense Balos (Amaryllidaceae), a new species in sect. Codonoprasum, is described from Sanliurfa Province, SE Turkey. Two distinct varieties are recognized, var. halfetiense and var. cecenii Balos. These taxa resemble A. pallens, A. convollarioides, A. dentiferum and A. galileum but differ from them in a few morphological characters of leaves, flowers, spathe valves, interstaminal teeth, and in ovary and capsule size. Diagnostic characters, a description, photographs and a distribution data are provided.
