Abstract

An all-fiber pulsed laser with narrow line width is demonstrated which consists of a pulsed fiber laser seed, a narrow line width abstraction device and two stages of single mode ytterbium-doped fiber amplifiers (YDFA). The pulsed fiber laser seed is passively mode-locked by a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) with 3nm line width. The narrow line width abstraction device extracts only 0.2nm line width optical spectrum from the seed without changing the time-domain characteristics of the optical pulses. After two stages of single mode YDFA the laser has 163.3mW average output power with 0.86nm line width.
