Abstract

Objective The study aimed to probe into the influence of employee assistance program(EAP) on job burnout of the psychiatric special nurses preliminarily. Methods 190 psychiatric special nurses were investigated by Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), from whom 40 selected nurses accepted 8-month EAP. The scores of MBI in 40 nurses were compared before and after the EAP. Results Totally 39 patients completed the intervention and follow-up. There were statistically significant differences in the scores of three dimensions(emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment) of MBI before and after the EAP,t values were 4.36, 2.78 and 4.09. Conclusions Application of EAP in hospital nursing work can help psychiatric special nurses to relieve their job burnout. Key words: Nurses; Fatigue; Remission
