Abstract

IntroductionGeneral anesthesia involves the administration in a very short period of time of several medications (muscle relaxants, hypnotics and opioids). These products can cause several side effects, especially allergic reactions. The true incidence of these reactions is unknown. In this article, we report the results of a prospective study conducted at Rabat University Hospital, about allergic reactions to drugs of general anesthesia. MethodsProspective study conducted between November 2007 and October 2009 in Ibn Sina University Hospital, including any suspected allergic peranesthesic reaction. ResultsThree cases in 9941 patients were includes. Two cases were confirmed as anesthesia related reactions. The third case had no reliable diagnostic testing such as serum tryptase and skin test. ConclusionsTo reduce the risk of allergic reactions during anesthesia, we hope practical related data bases and guidelines for management and diagnostic will be published in the future.
