Abstract

Studies on experimental elicitation of allergic contact dermatitis are essential for the confirmation of the diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis in the clinical situation. They may also serve as an important guideline for establishing estimates of exposure concentrations that are safe with respect to elicitation of contact allergy. In the present chapter, methods for experimental allergic contact dermatitis in humans are reviewed, and an update is given on individual and exposure-related variables for experimental elicitation of allergic contact dermatitis.
