Abstract
A case of allergic eczematous contact dermatitis caused by isopropyl alcohol is presented. Despite the widespread use of lower aliphatic alcohols, instances of allergic cutaneous sensitivity to these substances are distinctly rare. Only four such reports, substantiated by patch testing, could be found in the literature, and in each case, the clinical dermatitis was due to ethyl alcohol. This is felt to be the first reported case of allergic eczematous contact dermatitis caused by isopropyl alcohol.
