Abstract

Molecular allergy diagnosis in food allergies is a modern approach utilized to characterize the molecular components of food allergens from the point of view of specific IgE-mediated immune responses. In the clinical practice, it can improve diagnosis accuracy and may assist the allergist in many aspects of the specialty work-up. Modern multiplex immunoassay methods used for the detection of serum specific IgE against food allergen components are the immuno solid-phase allergen chip microarray, patient-friendly allergen nano-bead array and macroarray nanotechnology-based immunoassay as a new generation molecular allergy explorer. It is important to know the allergenic molecules available for multiplex diagnosis immunoassays from food sources which must be declared as containing food allergens in the European Union (EU).
