Abstract

This paper presents results of study of allelopathic activity of invasive species Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle and Acer negundo L. in the southeast of Ukraine. The data show that physiologically active substances, which are contained in the soil under the canopy of arboreal plants under study, act mainly as inhibitors of growth. The low number of species under their crowns can be explained by not only the lack of light but also allelopathic influence.
