Abstract

Photons as signal carriers provides unusual advantages as well as serious challenges to control them in nano-dimensions, whereas, atoms and molecules as signal transducers are promising for quantum computing. Significant progress in the innovation of molecular diodes and transistors has been achieved that is potentially contributing for the realization of new generation computing systems. Here we present the chemical analogues of all-photonic diode and transistor including their rectification and switching functions. The diode and the transistor actions have been designed on the molecular platform using three-step excitation energy transfer among four standard fluorophores, Coumarin 1, Curcumin, Rhodamine 123, and Rhodamine B. The design is rather simple and generalized that might be fitted with other sets of fluorophores as well.
