Abstract

Abstract A new type of carbomacrocyclic ligand and host compounds is described allowing conversion of functional groups to ligand-arms with many coordination sites. As an example, the hexameric amido-substituted all-homocalixarene 5(n = 6) is described: synthesis, X-ray-structural analysis and ligand qualities in liquid-liquid extraction studies combined with determination of Log K-values are explained. Peak-selectivity with regard to Ba2+ and formation of 1:1-complexes in extraction experiments are proven, the influence of solvents is discussed.
