Abstract

In this work, we present a single-mode fiber fully controlled Lyot filter based on bend-induced linear birefringence with tension. The filter consists of 22.6 m of standard fiber coiled onto a 1.8792 cm radius cylinder. By increasing the fiber strain, the filter period can be dynamically varied from 70 to 30 nm. Also, the filter can be continuously tuned by adjusting the retardance of a variable wave retarder and in modulation depth from 0 to 1. The experimental results are supported by numerical simulations based on the Jones matrix formulation.
