Abstract

A system is presented which simulates, with only electronic components, the properties of an optical coherent system. The system makes possible the simulation of phase noise with linewidths typical for semiconductor laser diodes and takes into account additional thermal noise. With one filter and two filter FSK reception eye diagrams, bit error rates and probability density functions of the amplitude at the decision point have been measured.
