Abstract
Dimethyl(alkynyl)aluminium compounds and diethyl ether or acetone have been found to form 2/1 complexes, and structures are suggested for these. The mechanism of formation of the 2/1 complexes was studied. On the basis of the nature of the proposed structure of the 2/1 complex and that of the resulting mixed dimer Me 2Al(CCMe)(RO)AlMe 2 a modified six-centre transition state and rearrangement pathway are proposed.
