Abstract

1. A method has been worked out for preparing alkyl-substituted tetralins or naphthalenes by alkylation of tetralin or naphthalene with alcohols in the presence of the cation-exchange resin KU-2 as a catalyst. 2. Alky1-substituted tetralins and naphthalenes have been prepared and their thermo-oxidative stability has been studied. Alkyl derivatives of tetralin and naphthalene are characterized by greater sediment formation during oxidation than the original tetralin or naphthalene.
