Abstract

β-Glucosidase from Thai Rosewood (Dalbergia cochinchinensis Pierre) catalyses transglucosylation of alcohols to synthesise alkyl glucosides. Good yields were obtained with primary alcohols, often approaching 90% in terms of alkyl glucoside, but secondary alcohols gave poorer yields, and tertiary alcohols did not react. The enzyme showed higher transglucosylation yields than almond β-glucosidase with all alcohols tested.
